How to choose a paraglider wing

The wing is the most important part of your gear and must match your real piloting level. These are the criteria we review with every pilot before recommending a model.

EN/LTF certification

Wings are rated from EN A to EN D according to how they behave after incidents. EN A wings are the most forgiving and suited to school; EN B covers most leisure pilots; EN C and EN D require a lot of experience and frequent flying.

Size and take-off weight

Each size has a total take-off weight range: pilot, gear and wing. Flying within that range ensures the behaviour intended by the manufacturer. Surface area in m² alone does not tell you which size you need.

Type of flying

Thermal flying in the Atlas is not the same as soaring on the coast. For cross-country flights, performance and stability at speed matter most; for short flights or travel, a light wing that is easy to inflate.

Maintenance and checks

A well-kept wing lasts many years. Store it dry, away from sun and heat, and have the cloth and lines checked regularly. Our workshop can advise you on the condition of your gear.
