We are expanding our flying zones with a new site on the Casablanca coast. It is an ideal place for beginners and introductory flights, with views of the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop.
Flying by the sea is a very different experience from flying in the mountains. We tell you what coastal flying is like, why it is often recommended for getting started and what you can expect if you decide to try it.
Coastal flying
On the coast, the wind usually comes from the sea more steadily than in the mountains, because it does not have to cross complicated terrain before reaching the slope or the beach. That regularity is one of the reasons coastal flying is considered pleasant and easy to understand.
The landscape is also part of the appeal: the Atlantic horizon, the coastline and the marine atmosphere give each flight its own character.
Why it is good for beginners
For first flights we look for calm conditions, an easy take-off and a wide, clear landing area. The Casablanca coast offers an environment that suits those needs well, which is why we have added it as an introductory zone.
It is also a practical option for those who live in the city or are passing through and do not want to travel to the mountains.
What to keep in mind
As in any zone, the weather rules. Wind, coastal haze and visibility can change during the day, and the pilot decides whether conditions are safe. On the coast it is worth bringing a light warm layer, sunglasses, sun protection and closed shoes.
See the zone page for the day's weather and write to us to book your flight.
Casablanca and the rest of our zones
With Casablanca, the club offers flights in very different settings: the High Atlas mountains, the valleys near Marrakech and the Atlantic coast. This lets you choose the kind of flight you like most or combine several on the same trip.
If you are travelling around Morocco, you can check the zone map and the weather for each one to decide where to fly.
Recommended equipment and clothing
Nothing special is needed to fly on the coast: comfortable clothes, a light jacket in case it gets cool, closed shoes that hold the foot well and sunglasses. We provide the helmet and the rest of the flight equipment.
Avoid flip-flops, hats that could blow away and loose objects in your pockets.
Conclusion: Casablanca joins our zones for starting to fly. If you want to take your first steps in paragliding with the sea as your companion, this is a good option. Write to us and we will help you choose a date and time.
