If you are looking for a paragliding flight in Marrakech, you will usually find it in three places: on GetYourGuide, on Viator and on the club's own website. At first glance it is the same experience, but the price, flexibility and service depend on where you book.
In this guide we explain honestly how each option works, what its advantages are and why more and more travellers book directly with the local club.
How booking platforms work
GetYourGuide and Viator are large platforms for tourist activities. They do not organise flights and they have no pilots: they publish offers on behalf of local operators and receive a commission on every booking.
This commission is often around 20-30% of the price and is added on top of the operator's price. It pays for visibility, advertising, technology and the platform's customer service.
The real advantages of a platform
Platforms have strengths: a well-known app, reviews from other travellers, payment in your currency and their own customer service. If you book many activities on one trip, it is convenient to have everything in one place.
That is why we are not saying they are a bad choice. They are simply neither the only option nor the cheapest one.
The advantages of booking directly with the club
When you book on parapente.ma you pay the club's price, with no intermediary commission. The standard flight starts at 600 MAD (about €60) per person.
You also talk to the pilot directly on WhatsApp, you can change the date for free if the weather is not right or your plans change, and some flights include photos and video at no extra cost.
Price: where you notice the difference
The price difference almost always comes from the commission. If a platform adds 20-30% to the operator's price, the saving from booking directly for two, three or four people can be considerable.
To compare properly, always look at the same things: type of flight, time in the air, transport, photos and video. A lower price without what you need is not a real saving.
Flexibility and date changes
Paragliding depends on the wind. With a platform, every change goes through its system and deadlines, and the operator cannot always modify the booking directly.
When you book directly, the pilot lets you know the day before if conditions are not good and you agree on a new date together, free of charge. If the flight is cancelled because of bad weather, we refund 100% or reschedule it, whichever you prefer.
Trust: how to check the operator
One reason many travellers book through platforms is trust. But trust can also be checked outside them: look up the operator on Google Maps, read their reviews, look at photos and videos and ask about their experience and insurance.
Our club has been flying in Morocco since 2014, with pilots who have more than 10 years of experience and civil liability insurance.
So, where should you book?
If you already use a platform for your whole trip and value that convenience more than the price, it is a good option. If you want the best price, direct contact with the pilot and more flexibility, book with the club.
Our advice: compare wherever you like, read the reviews and then book directly with the local operator.
