Once you have mastered take-off, wing control and landing, it is time to fly longer and farther. These techniques will help you use the energy of the atmosphere wisely and safely.
Learn to read the atmosphere
The best days are built by reading the sky, the wind and the terrain. These are the three pillars of advanced flying:
Thermals
Centre the spiral in the core of the bubble and adjust the radius to its strength.
Ridge soaring
Fly in the lift zone of the slope, respecting right of way and distances.
Navigation
Plan your route, keep a safe altitude and always have a landing option within reach.
Safe progression
Progress in stages: practise each manoeuvre at a safe altitude, with an instructor or an experienced pilot, and do not move on to the next level until the previous one feels natural. Advanced courses and flying with companions shorten the path a lot.
Analyse every flight
Record your flights with a GPS variometer and review them afterwards. Seeing your tracks, your centring mistakes and your decisions teaches you more than many hours of flying without reflection.
Take your flying to the next level
Perfect your technique with our courses and fly with certified instructors over the High Atlas.
